IN THE WAKE OF THE DISASTROUS LOS ANGELES FIRES,
THE LOCATION COMMUNITY RALLIES TO HELP…
IN A CITY OF ANGELS
BY JILL NAUMANN/LMGI
In early January 2025, wildfires laid siege to Los Angeles. Fueled by Santa Ana
winds with hurricane-strength gusts, the city's suburbs were engulfed in flames.
Places I've scouted, places I've filmed, friends' homes, pets … the scary thoughts
raced through my mind. Filming and life in general ground to a near-complete halt as
talent and crew alike left the set to be with their families to try to preserve their
belongings and their homes. At one point, 14 fires raged across Southern California.
Twenty-five lives were lost, and the Eaton and Palisades fires ultimately claimed
title to the second and third most destructive wildfires in California history with
initial property losses estimated between $35 billion-$45 billion.
