An LMGI collaboration with the Egypt Film Commission and the Egyptian Media Production City (EMPC) was formalized by the signing of a "Memorandum of Understanding" (MOU) by Guild President Rakich and Ahmed Badawy, general manager of the Egypt Film Commission. Also attending was the Film Commission marketing manager Riham Elghazaly. Said Rakich, "Our MOU with the Egypt Film Commission marks an exciting step in strengthening global partnerships. Egypt's rich cinematic heritage and breathtaking locations make it a natural partner for the LMGI as we continue to champion international cooperation and possible networking opportunities for our members." CIFF President Hussein Fahmy agrees. "Through these partnerships, we aim to highlight Egypt as a world-class cinematic destination with exceptional filming locations and state-of-the-art infrastructure." LMGI President John Rakich and VP Alison Taylor, along with LMGI members Markus Bensch and Ian Easterbrook, were guests of the Egypt Film Commission at the 45th Annual Cairo International Film Festival's (CIFF) Industry Days held last November.
