72 S U M M E R 2 0 2 5 I C A S Q U A R T E R L Y SOUND DEVICES was showing their new A20-HH handheld mic, as well as several new Astral wireless receivers. There's everything from a two-channel slot receiver to 8- and 16-channel bag units, to a 32-channel 1RU receiver. It appears that they are winning the multiband war so far as the units tune seven bands from 169 MHz to 1525 MHz. WAVES has entered the live mix world, with the eMotion LV1 console loaded with… Waves plugins! It's a 16-preamp desktop unit with 64 stereo channels, 44 buses, motorized faders, and runs the LV1 mix engine software. It's a more integrated version of their FIT control surface. WISYCOM has a new RF over fiber transport system good for 1 km distances, and the MTH610 multiband handheld mic that goes from 470 MHz to1075 MHz with Bluetooth control and accepting capsules from various manufacturers. Plus, the new MTP61-XL bodypack transmitter with a battery is good for 16 hours. ALLEN & HEATH had their SQ-5 console and SQ Rack mixers on display, capable of 48 inputs, with MADI, Dante, and Waves option cards available. The rack mixer is controllable from the front panel or with a tablet. I didn't see everything, but these folks and their products caught my eye. Next year's NAB Show should be better organized, as the Center Hall should be reopened, and exhibitors will be less scattered between halls. Come see for yourself!
