What an awards season! Congratulations to all the 72nd MPSE Golden Reel Award nominees and winners on your achievements in yet another challenging year. This past year's obstacles have been plenty. Yet, despite them, we came together and celebrated what can only be regarded as another exceptional year of sonic artistry. Executive director Tracie Costabile, show director Steve Avila, the team at Sequoia Productions, the GRA Committee, and the volunteers put on a spectacular event for the ages. If you weren't able to make it to this year's show, I sincerely hope you can make it next year. The devastating events of January brought a horrifi c nightmare to our Southern California community, and you, our MPSE members, leaped into action. On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for your generous acts for those in need. Our hearts go out to everyone aŠ ected by the fi res. As you may know, the MPSE has donated to the Entertainment Community Fund, providing cash relief to those in need. The portal to our donations page is still open and can be accessed on the main page of our website. In addition, at the awards show, we were honored to welcome members of the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). As these brave fi refi ghters were fi ghting to save others' homes, many of them lost theirs. There is a charity near and dear to the hearts of the LAFD that directly helps those fi refi ghters in need. It is called the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firefi ghter's Fund. We have also donated to assist these brave fi refi ghters and their families. Each year after the awards wrap, it feels like January for the organization. The Board of Directors gets to work on better promoting our membership and sound to the fi lm industry and the world. And we're oŠ to a great start! • March 12 - NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Fusion Film Festival honored Cece Hall with its Lifetime Achievement Award • April 3 - MPSE PRESENTS: New York City.
