I've been fortunate to have done multiple projects with the tight-knit team of Bryan Buckley and David Skinner, both 'Kings of the Super Bowl' ad space. Recreating the iconic opening scene of the feature film Saturday Night Fever for the Capitol One holiday campaign was quite a creative endeavor and an honor to be a part of. The creative team had to go through the scenes shot by shot to recreate the iconic Travolta strut that starts the original film, recreating Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, at the height of the holiday season. The spot features a walk down the snow-covered Brooklyn main street in the shadow of the elevated subway as Santa stops in on local shops for some of his favorite items. (Conveniently paid for with his Capitol One card.) Santa ends up in a familiar- looking club, busting some holiday moves on the red-and-green flashing dance floor. This project was pure fun to facilitate. Illustrations by Jamie Rama set the tone for the sets, built by Vision Scenery in a very tight turnaround time and executed to perfection. Cristobal Sanches and his two teams installed the scenery for the two days of shooting on the Paramount backlot. A. BAY RIDGE BROOKLYN STREET AT CHRISTMAS. ILLUSTRATION BY JAMIE RAMA. B.
