DGA Women's Steering Committee presents: Women's Day at the DGA: The Power of Genre Blending Please join us for our fourth annual Women's Day to hear from women Directors with unique cinematic voices whose work is changing the conversation around the craft. There has been a focus in the last few years in both features and television to use some lighter genres to explore darker themes, and both renowned and up-and-coming auteurs are leading the way in transitioning storytelling to encapsulate multiple genres both visually and on the page. This panel will explore what it takes to pitch a movie that blends genres, how a Director balances presenting two genres to a studio — and to their actors — how to always lean towards emotional truth (no matter the genre), how genre blending can actually broaden your audience, and what the future of theatrical moviegoing looks like, keeping these new "genre rules for the box office" in mind. • OCTOBER UPCOMING EVENTS • Wednesday, October 23 7:00 p.m. Los Angeles Atrium To RSVP, please log-in as a member at www.dga.org/Events and click on Upcoming Events.
