58 M PS E . O R G The cinematics are much more detailed, they're treated like a movie script. EM: Do you typically have deep conversations with the actors about their characters before they come in on the day? KZS: They learn more during the audition process, I think. And then the team will sit down with them for 5-10 minutes to hone things, but it's not, like, two hours of discussing. Voice-over is a very fast-acting job. Things happen fast. 'Cause we have so many lines to get through, you know? Jennifer Hale, who's gonna be the example of everything in this, once did a game with me. The average for most actors is 50 lines an hour. Some people are slower, some people are faster. Jennifer is not the only one who is amazing like this, but she once did 400 lines in a four-hour session. We were just like Boom! Boom! Boom! Yuri Lowenthal is also great, he just delivers every single time. EM: That's incredible. What kind of range is there in how many days, weeks, or months, or years that you're recording for one single game? KZS: Oh gosh. Most of the Metal Gear games were over a year. Spider- Man may have been two years, but we're not recording every day. I don't really keep track of that so it's hard to know, but Metal Gear was for months and months. EM: With each successive title in a series, would they usually get bigger and bigger in terms of how much time you're recording? KZS: I think so, yes.
