Kather- ine joined the Guild in 2002 and worked in a variety of roles, starting as a sound apprentice on "Secretary." She went on to work as an assistant sound editor un- der Anthony "Chic" Ciccolini, III, among others, and as a picture assistant before settling on the job that occupied the rest of her career: music editing. She started as an assistant to renowned music editors Todd Kasow, Nic Ratner, and Joe E. Rand before becoming a music editor in her own right. She was an accomplished pianist and composer with a bachelors degree from the prestigious Oberlin Con- servatory of Music, so music editing was a natural fit for her. After years in sound and picture departments working with directors and editors, she was deft at com- municating notes to composers in specific musical terms and making seamless chang- es that preserved a composer's intent. While she had some experience working on television ("Marco Polo," "Billions," "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll"), the bulk of her work was on feature films where she was able to spend months honing and tweaking scores. Over the last few years of her career, she worked on several critically acclaimed and award-winning films, including "The Lost City of Z," "Motherless Brooklyn," "Causeway," Everything Everywhere All at Once," and "Beau Is Afraid." The last was her final film, for which she was credited as Score Producer in addition to Music Editor. With a 20-year career behind her, Kath- erine was on her way to being a veteran force in New York's sound editorial commu- nity. Her warm presence will be missed. ■ — Eric Hirsch
