prison. Round rooms being the sort of space where it's hard to find a door, an escape. Panos Cosmatos wrote and directed this strange and hallucinogenic tale of the intersecting lives of strangers and the design team formed the environments from research, meditations and conversations. For the many Zoom meetings with Panos, who did his homework of supplying us with inspiring references, we would meet together with Etienne Gravrand, the lead Set Designer, and Andy Tsang, who was modeling the creature "skull," and, occasionally, DP Michael Ragen. Design challenges included getting just the right upholstery for the custom- built sunken sofa (a test of decorator Shane Vieau's artistry), and how to create and then light from the incredible fixture above the round sofa. (A series of pipes bound together from the grid, a nod to my earlier days on Star Trek Discovery.) Oh, and orange goo…loads of orange goo from cracking alien skulls. You can't imagine the cleanup! G.
