basically any space the production could once again modify and occupy for a certain number of days. We hoped to get lucky in smaller communities with theaters for seasonal productions that may have doubled as a community center, but eventually it became obvious we'd have to build what we needed. Fortunately, Set Designers Chris Rhoton and Antje Ellerman also work in theater, and their knowledge of the intricacies of theater stages proved indispensable. To pull off the crucial beats in this episode—where Charlie occupies every aspect of the stage and theater—there were several precise story points the Art Department had to design for, like the placement of the catwalk above the stage, the angle of the light that would fall from the catwalk, the trap door on the stage floor. As well as the connection to a kitchen area. The crew constructed the trapdoor on the actual stage of the theater set but built the pit below as a separate set on stage at Umbra for all the action and coverage needed for those scenes. The catwalk was also constructed as a separate section that needed to be high enough to film from underneath while Ellen's character, Kathleen walks along it to loosen the stage light. Like all the other episodes, this one had its own defined set requirements. G E F H I J
