one-bedroom apartment Danny converted into a two-bedroom for his brother Paul. We deliberately wanted the renovation to look like Danny may have watched an instructional YouTube video to do the work himself, using tools and supplies left over from his contractor business. The evidence of his handyman work is left in an unfinished state, to emphasize the division between him and his brother and his psychological struggles achieving a goal. Art Director Michael Hersey, construction coordinator Drew Simmons and their talented teams made a devoted effort to execute the details: popcorn ceilings, layers of over-painted and aged walls with hairline cracks, slightly wonky '90s-inspired cabinets, imperfectly laid tiles, vintage-sourced carpeting with painted in suspicious stains, bugs in the overhead light fixture, etc. Set decorator Kellie Jo Tinney and her wonderful team sourced all the character dressing. Layers from Danny and Paul's upbringing, decor from their parents' motel, cookware Korean Americans likely have, and objects saved due to the mindset of repurposing anything with potential use. Kellie Jo and I had a story behind the dressing method: Two years ago, a purposeful Danny cleaned and organized the entire apartment but inevitably lost motivation to carry on. After placing things in ordered collections, we walked around the set carrying clothes, cups, additional remotes, loose hardware, etc., and at various points dropped things in the "wrong" place. For Paul's bedroom, his gaming setup is the character anchor. He spends all of his time and money on equipment that keeps him online. Prop master Rose Leiker knew the monitors, tower, keyboard and webcam system that Paul's 0' 5' 10' 15' 20' 2ND FLR.
