For example: "For television, the data from 159 one-hour scripted dramas showed that the average carbon footprint per episode was seventy-seven metric tons." The need to address such facts cannot be ignored and we were extremely grateful to her for bringing such data to light and describe her experiences with productions. Laura Friedman was able to also captivate the audience describing the policies she is currently working on to reduce waste and encourage more effective recycling methods. She also touched on the transport and emissions concerns related to our industry and ideas emerged from the discussions such as the use of electric- powered generators and making EV cars (and ways to power them) available to crew members whose jobs involve being on the road or transporting crews. Her experience working for the studios prior to being an assembly member gives her valuable insight to be able to connect the community issues and our film sets. The turnout was amazing, the learning was plentiful, the food and snacks were tasty, and folks left the event stimulated and bursting with facts, figures, samples, and a renewed energy for tackling this issue that is a defining part of the rest of our lives, and perhaps more importantly, the lives of generations to come after us. Parents brought their kids along, friends called and texted and convinced each other to show up, and the bar was set high for future events. As a committee, we will strive to keep these newfound contacts alive to stay current with the resources and policies, as well as share information with our Guild members. We look forward to growing our community of stewards of this planet! Enjoy these photos from the day, and please reach out to Dawn or one of the co-chairs of the Green Committee to participate in upcoming meetings and further actions. Thanks for caring, and remember that every little bit does help, but when we join forces and pool our resources, we can make massive movement beyond our wildest dreams. We already do it every day in our professions! ADG Green Committee Co-Chairs: Amelia Brooke Jake Tremblay Kelsey Garrett Paula Loos Consultant: Karen Steward Staff Liaison: Dawn Snyder A C B
