REMOTE WORKFLOWS www.postmagazine.com 25 POST MAR/APR 2023 ELMNTL OPENS CLOUD-ENABLED POST FACILITY LONDON — Big Pic Media (www.bigpicmedia.net), which handles design and installation services, helped build Elmntl (www.elmntl.studio), one of London's latest creative studios. The Shoreditch facility is built around a host of cloud- based creative tools that allow artists to collaborate in the studio or remotely. This cloud-enabled approach provides the ability to scale processor-intensive tools in the cloud without being limited by on-premise hardware. Elmntl features an open-plan with collaborative project areas and suites for color grading, VFX and CG/motion graphics. There are also multiple support stations for production planning, ingest, QC and delivery. Big Pic Media sup- plied and installed all local hardware required for monitoring, control and net- working. This included Blackmagic Design's DaVinci Resolve Advanced Panels; Sony BVM HX-310 and PVM-X3200 monitors across color grading, online and QC monitoring space; and Sony A95k QD-OLED displays in client areas, which are calibrated to match the reference HX-310. Big Pic Media worked alongside Konsistent Consulting, an AWS-approved independent consultant company, to specify, install and commission the on- prem hardware, networking and cloud-based infrastructure required to support the studio's technical infrastructure. This ensures that the studio can use all required resources on-demand, simply and efficiently. "Elmntl has built a facility that is extremely friendly and welcoming," says Adam Welsh, Big Pic Media director. "It has the infrastructure to allow creatives and clients to work in a flexible environment and make sure the work produced is of the highest standard, on-time and on-budget." "Our operations were up and running on schedule," adds Danny Whybrow, Elmntl founding partner. "We are now flat out on new projects with everything working perfectly." ALTEON.IO APP SIMPLIFIES CAMERA-TO-CLOUD WORKFLOWS BURBANK, CA — Alteon.io (alteon.io), the collaborative cloud-based platform designed for content creators, has launched a new iPhone app that creates a direct link between Apple's camera technology and Alteon's content-manage- ment system. After downloading the app, Alteon users can send footage from their iOS device directly to their Alteon Cloud account for secure storage and collaboration. Once the files are uploaded, remote team members can immedi- ately begin the post process. Alteon Cloud automatically transcodes all video files, and users can integrate the platform straight into Final Cut Pro using Alteon's workflow extension. The app features an intuitive UI, as well as professional-grade power that runs in the background, enabling creators to continue using their iPhone while uploading content to the cloud. The free app includes 10GBs of storage. GB LABS WORKING TO SOLVE DISTRIBUTED- WORKFLOW CHALLENGES BERKSHIRE, UK — GB Labs (www.gblabs.com) has released Unify Hub Generation 2, a global unified file system that allows users to optimize, adapt and secure their on-premise, cloud and remote workflows. Unify Hub has three key features to enhance workflows, and is a way to seamlessly adapt to unusual ways of working in a more effective, secure, and low-cost manner. OnePath presents a singular file path, regardless of a user's location, mean- ing re-linking is no longer necessary. Centralized access management offers the ability to manage users with both efficiency and security, with AD/LDAP support, as well as primary storage controls to secure authentication for every login. And HyperAcceleration allows users to seamlessly cache just the blocks of data required to play portions of clips used in the timeline. "The development of Unify Hub Generation 2 has drastically changed the way in which media workflows operate, by enabling a global unified file system that allows users to collaborate seamlessly from any location," explains GB Labs' CEO and CTO, Dominic Harland. "We're seeing more and more editors and digital artists back in the office, but only a few days per week on-premise, so the need for a seamless transition between on-prem and remote working is vital for efficiency," adds Matt Scott, GB Labs' solutions and pre-sales engineer. The announcement follows that of GB Labs' cloud storage option, Nebula, alongside Storj, which can work in conjunction with Unify Hub to present an elastic but true file system at a lower cost than other solutions currently on the market.
