By Saleem Aziz N othing caps the year like a holi- day party, and the MPEG Diversity Committee's "Jingle and Mingle 2," was filled with good spirits. The December event in the Dede Allen Room at the Guild's headquarters in Hollywood was the first time the holiday celebration was held in person. A packed parking lot promised a fun night. Once inside, guests were greeted with beautifully decorated rooms and tables with holiday centerpieces. The party was filled to capacity with board members and others representing the many departments of post-production. Full bar service had its own space, and there was a line for the food catered by Stonefire Grill along with IXLB Dim Sum and Southern Girls Desserts. Parts of the menu represented different foods eaten during the holidays from each of the Diversity Steering Committees. One of those familiar faces was Bobbi Banks, Co-Chair of the African American Steering Committee, who had just celebrat- ed her birthday the day before. Banks, along with Aimee Jennings, Lillian Benson, Janet Bieber, Sharon Smith Holley, and Glenn T. Morgan, helped curate this year's cate- gories for "Holiday Jeopardy." Categories included: "Holiday Movies or Not," "Snowy Weather," "Hanukkah," "Kwanzaa," "Holi- day Grab Bag," "They Also Played Scrooge," and "They Also Play On Christmas Day." For brave partygoers, there was an Ugly Christmas sweater contest. The editor catwalk was a fashion showcase where winners were chosen by applause. For Holiday Jeopardy, first place went to Molly Shock, followed by Nancy Morrison and Terilyn A. Shropshire. The night ended with a dance, the electric slide, from the movie "The Best Man." The Diversity Committee would like to thank the MPEG staff, notably Adriana Iglesias Dietl, Tracy Pacio, Harolena Gaines, and Jim Turner. Among the enthusiastic comments from attendees: Leander Sales: "The party was a lot of fun and it was great seeing some people I haven't seen in person for over two years. At first, I felt a little nervous about attending the event because I've been hibernating, like many of us. I felt more relaxed when I saw MPEG staff diligently requesting to see everyone's updated COVID cards. Great job, MPEG staff!" Mike Jones: "After being tucked away in the edit bay for weeks, it was nice to get dressed up and step out and enjoy the Christmas party. I enjoyed catching up with friends I hadn't seen in months or years due to COVID." Sabrina Gimenez: "Knowing how busy Mary DeChambres with Q De Chambres. Craig Eustis and Vickie Sampson.
