"We are so grateful to the SAG Awards and its sponsors for their annual support, especially in recent years, when our community needed our vital safety net and free resources more than ever," said Courtney B. Vance, president of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. "I'm proud to share that from the ashes of the COVID-19 pandemic has risen a new SAG-AFTRA Foundation with hybrid programming which is soaring to new heights." Prior to March 2020, the majority of the Foundation's programs were offered in-person in New York and Los Angeles; however, when faced with the industry- wide shutdown, the Foundation swiftly transitioned all of its free programs online, sagaftra.org • SAG-AFTR A SPECIAL ISSUE 2023 • 54 serving members nationwide throughout the ups and downs of the pandemic. Since then, the Foundation has produced more than 10,000 free remote educational opportunities. From recording remote self- tape auditions to teaching new professional skills and software, to helping thousands of members set up remote voiceover recording studios, the Foundation has supported and trained more than 118,000 SAG-AFTRA participants over the last three years. "The good news is that we have resumed our in-person Conversations screenings and Q&As, and some of The Business programming, in New York and Los Angeles.
