His costumes blur e line between past and present Louis' (Jacob Anderson) modern Dubai look is a stripping away of frivolities and a focus on luxury and stealth. His austere looks use the silhouette of his classic pieces from the past reimagined in luxe black fabrics. His costumes blur the line between past and present, almost imper- ceptibly. In his recollection he can deny his feelings, while in the next scene he wears a veiled tribute to that painful moment. That was a fun puzzle to construct. Once Louis is pulled into the immortal world, he takes on the cage of stripes in his suiting. He has a beautiful purple phase that coincides with a brief moment in the 1910s when purple was a very fashion forward menswear trend. His early 20th century nightlife looks reflect the personal style of Black Vaudeville stars. Color underscores the story as he is coming to terms with being a vampire, moving from warm to cool. As a new vampire he takes the stripes to almost psychedelic heights before he starts to crash into The Depression, literally and figuratively. These characters are vampires, so they are very hard on their clothes, destroying them from stunts, squibs, fire and fountains of blood. It was a constant parade of clothes. The final scene has a Louis XIV / Hieronymous Bosch The Garden of Earthly Delights theme. They are in white 18th century dress, all made-to-order. They destroy it all. Jacob Anderson as Louis.
