Asylum The challenge was to design a place that resembles normality and surrealism in the same time. The foundation of the asylum set is based on iconic symbols, white tiles, white walls. The architectural language is the one seen in old mental institutions. The subject is delicate because it touches on mental health, and I wanted to stay away from stereotypes by using just a few details to create a reality that can turn into a dream or nightmare without becoming scary or dark. The common room is where everyone can meet and connect with each other, with a series of corridors and doors that are the cells to Steven/Marc's memories. Long and endless corridors in a square loop lead to multiple doors, rooms that contain memories into MarcSteven's past life. ainful memories, joyful memories, all stored into the asylum's chambers. Tawaret, the god of the afterlife and rebirth, appeared to Marc/Steven in a vision. She is the one that with the Scale of Truth, places your heart in judgment, and with the solar barge takes you to the gate of siris through the fi eld of reeds. The ancient Egyptians believed that the soul resides in the heart and so, upon death, the weighing of the heart took place. Each human heart is weighed on a giant scale against an ostrich feather. Those souls who balance the scales are allowed to start a long and perilous journey to the Field of Reeds, where they will exist in pleasure for all eternity.
