Jon Peters his udorstyle house fit Jon Peters' character perfectly and had a steep driveway that allowed for the dramatic truck stunt. he house was under construction, and the owners allowed the production to build our sets inside this house to have seamless interiors to exterior shots. Paul planned a shot pushing toward the headboard as the kids filled the waterbed, and we wanted to catch the room in the reections in the shot. I designed a custom wall unit with gimbaled mirrors, drafted by Andrew Leitch, in order to not see the camera in the frame. Omega Cinema Props constructed the Arabian Nights waterbed and draperies. Fat Bernie's Pinball Palace Gary and friends turn the waterbed store into the brandnew, now legal, Fat Bernie's Pinball Palace. he crew transformed the lattice wall to keep an existing element. ileboard with black grout was installed and the walls were painted with wavy murals inspired by pinball machine art. he set decoration team sourced over sixty working pre 0s machines. Art Director Samantha Englender worked closely with the electrics department to oversee the transition of the scenic elements. Storefront windows were painted by RIO with youthful and dynamic graphics by erry Hyatt. he alley Searchlights graphics were recreated from the now defunct company, which once had thousands of WW2 searchlights converted to entertainment lights for premieres. We used one of the last in existence. Licorice Pizza had such an exciting variety of sets, it was a world that I would have liked to stay in for a little longer. It was an honor to collaborate with Paul on this film. I love how incredibly fun it was to work together on discoveries and design process. It was a great pleasure to work with everyone in the art, set decoration, graphics, construction, scenics and location teams. I am so proud of the film we created, together. ADG A.
