12 I M PS E . O R G was downloaded a few thousand times in a matter of months. He began getting feedback from people that were already using his software for major film and television projects. At the time, Orfeas was fresh out of school and planned on finding a job in post production. As the software's popularity continued to grow, he decided to create his own company and develop the software further. He put together a team and ported the software from Max MSP to C++, which enabled Dehumaniser to be used as a VST inside of DAWs for its commercial release. Sound production for film, television and games can be quite time-consuming. There are a lot of steps and tools to create original sound. Other software takes a lot of time to set up and has a steep learning curve to master. Dehumaniser made it easy for sound designers to reduce the path from their imagination to the final result by letting them perform creature sounds in real time with their voices. In the process of creating Dehumaniser, Orfeas and his team realized this same method could be applied to Foley. Thus Reformer Pro was born. With Reformer Pro, a designer can perform sounds with your voice or any other input. Sticking to this concept of streamlining the sound design process, Weaponiser and Igniter similarly bring this same real-time playability to Weapons and Vehicles. Their latest edition to their lineup, Concept 2, is an easy-to-use synth. In addition to their software lineup, Krotos has also released a number of sound libraries that can either be used as source material in their software or as a standalone addition to a designer's library. Today Krotos is 15 people strong, and are looking to increase up to 25 in the next year or so. When asked what is next for the company, they are looking to expand product offering and make a bigger impact on the sound community at large. They want to allow people to design sound faster and easier and continue to refine that process. More than anything, they want to thank the community. There are so many great people in the audio world that are supportive and helped them through their journey. I personally can't wait to see what they come up with next!
