4 I M PS E . O R G Greetings members, I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that your new year has gotten o to a great start. As we leave the holiday celebrations behind, we enter into another celebratory season—Awards Season! It is one of my favorite times of the year. It means screenings, events and reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances and making new ones. Is it just me, or is the competition better and tougher than ever this year? And how cool is it that this year's recipients of the Filmmaker of the Year Award and the Career Achievement Award happen to be longtime collaborators, Ron Howard and Chic Ciccolini, respectively? Chic and Ron have a long history working together on a dozen of Howard's fi lms, including Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, and The DaVinci Code to name just a few. I can't think of a better celebratory reunion for fi lmmaker and supervising sound editor! One thing I know for certain is it's going to be another terrifi c awards season, and I for one am excited for the upcoming 69th Annual Golden Reel Awards! Congratulations to Ron Howard, Chic Ciccolini and all of this year's Golden Reel nominees!
