DAWN SNYDER, DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION AND SPECIAL PROJECTS. B. ADG EDUCATION VIDEOS ON VIMEO. ADG member Dawn Snyder has moved into the role of Director of Education and Special Projects and is actively planning the direction of the program for the coming years. After almost four decades as a Set Designer, Art Director and Production Designer, Dawn embraces the opportunity to use those years of practical experience to develop programs to train and support the next generation of design professionals. As production spreads across the country and the globe, Dawn's focus will be to make the educational programs available to ADG members where they live and work. To this end, the program is focusing on content that is streamed or recorded for use on demand. The delivery of classes online, in many ways motivated by the pandemic, has shown the value of delivering classes to members' homes and o ces, and all classes o ered by the program will be available online. To this end, the program will be concentrating on building the on-demand library of educational material, currently available to members on the ADG Educational Experiences Vimeo site. These recordings are primarily members teaching members, and o er lessons in budgeting, et esign techniues, nreal work ows, and other information to build members' Art Department skillsets. This library of prerecorded content will continue to grow in coming months as more classes are recorded and edited for streaming. A new category of classes being developed and added to the ADG playlist will be onboarding classes. These will be informative modules aimed at new members and will focus on topics such as Guild and IATSE history, the history of contract negotiations, other crafts and unions ADG members work with, and an outline of the benefi ts of being in the Guild. Along with these introductory classes, Dawn is developing a series of "Juniors" classes for Assistant Art Directors and Graphic Artists. These will follow the template set by the Set Designers juniors classes, going into detailed professional practices in budgeting, scheduling, working with backings, special e ects, visual e ects, terminology used in working with other crafts, and the professional work ow expected from a Guild member. Of interest to all members will be a series of "Conversations with…" classes. These will be produced discussions with both ADG members and collaborators such as construction coordinators, cinematographers and visual e ects supervisors touching on areas of specialization and trends in current production practices. In addition to developing all this content specifi c to the Guild, Dawn is also working closely with Contract Services, who will be bringing back their training program after almost two years. These classes, o ered by outside vendors, are often taught by ADG members and focus on skills members are anxious to learn or improve upon. These classes will be back in early 2022 and will become another opportunity for members to learn something new and stay up to date. A B
