6 4 P E R S P E C T I V E | S E P T E M B E R / O C T O B E R 2 0 2 1 7 3 R D E M M Y A W A R D S Creative Arts Emmy Winners 2021 B Y D AV I D M O R O N G , E D I T O R The 2021 Creative Arts Emmys were presented in three events over two days on September 11 and 12 at LA Live in Downtown Los Angeles. The Creative Arts Emmys honor outstanding artistic and technical achievement, and is primarily focused on the many crafts involved in television production. The Production Design awards were given in the fi rst of the three ceremonies, with Mare of Easttown, The Queen's Gambit, WandaVision, The Oscars and Saturday Night Live all being recognized for outstanding design work. Hosted by Alex Borstein of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, the event was held in a large tent on the plaza at LA Live. After a completely virtual cermony in 2020, nominees and presenters attended both in-person and via Zoom, shown on large video panels along the side walls. Production in the era of the pandemic was an underlying theme of the night, with recognition of the diffi culties production protocols imposed on the shows, as well as an appreciation for how important broadcast entertainment was in getting so many through these challenging times.
