I f "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," then Newport Beach is a center of beauty that draws trendsetters from all over the world. With its seaside ambience and natural beauty, it is the ideal venue for celebration of feminine beauty represented in the Newport Beach Pageants. On August 29, this year's new and most exciting pageants will begin the events that can lead to the crowns of Miss Newport Beach 2011, Miss Newport Beach Teen 2011, Little Miss, Junior Miss or Mrs. Newport Beach. Due to the large growth and expansion of the successful pageant events, B Scene Advertising Agency will be introducing a new member of the pageant family, Miss Giselle Boone, Los Angeles modeling scout, modeling and commercial coach, life skill trainer, cosmetic designer and a make-over expert. With the title of Executive Vice President, Board of Directors, she will help oversee the pageant productions along with the several training and contestant preparations. The Newport Beach Pageants were revitalized in 2007 when Caren Lancona, decided to bring back the tradition in her hometown after being on the Newport Beach Centennial Marketing committee and the Rose Parade Float in 2005-2006. The Pageant in 2008 was at the Balboa Bay Club and had an impressive turnout of over 700 attendees. This year, the pageants have added the Charity Working Wardrobes as the beneficiary of 20 percent of the proceeds. The pageant is open for all girls and ladies ages 2 and up - based on eligibility requirements. In addition, the Newport Beach Pageant has added new categories to include more of the community in this grand event. The owner and producer of the Newport Beach Pageants, Caren Lancona, with her team, made the decision to include additional age categories for the 2011 pageants which will include the following: • Little Miss Newport Beach for ages 6 to 9 • Junior Miss Newport Beach for ages 10 to 14 • Miss Newport Beach Teen for ages 15 to 18 • Miss Newport Beach for ages 19 to 26, • Mrs. Newport Beach for all married women in the community. "The best parts of the pageants are the training and the gifts the contestants receive", said Lauren Brame, Pageant Director. "All of the contestants receive numerous classes in fashion, makeup, hair, modeling, speech, modeling and etiquette, which makes every contestant poised and polished by pageant day." "We offer more training and events than any other Pageant", said Caren Lancona. The event will take place on the Yacht Endeavor in Newport Beach Harbor and the contestants are encouraged to sign up now to take advantage of the prior events that start August 11. The entry fee is just $250 and it includes all of the training classes, gifts and events. The title sponsor is Cosmeticare Plastic Surgery Center & Med Spa. This year they have generously donated packages to the Mrs. Newport Beach and Miss Newport Beach title winners to include over $7,500 in non-surgical med spa services. Transferring the crown to this year's winner will be Miss Newport Beach 2009 Runner Up and current title holder Greta Pechter. Miss Teen Newport Beach 2009, Nikki Taylor, also will be passing on the torch to the 2011 winner in the Miss Newport Beach Teen category and our Emcee Alexis Belino will crown own new categories. Don't miss when the young women of Newport Beach come together in this one- of-a-kind Pageant that is sure to inspire community and self.
