He fi rst learned the basics, then his grandfather taught him the small details that would help him become a tai- lor. He also instilled in Kim that this craft would help him fi nd work anywhere in the world and would always be a source of income. This loving apprenticeship and many years of training on the job got him where he is today. Good friends Taek Kim and Man Pae opened K&P Tailoring shop in 2005 and partnered for many years until Pae's pass- ing. One of Kim's most memorable jobs was when President Lyndon B. Johnson visited Seoul, Korea, in 1966. Kim had the honor of making tux- edoes for the Korean president and all of his generals for a dinner party. "Tuxedos take fi nessing," he says. "Making morning coats and cut-away jackets are more tasking." Each project demands his focus on what he's trying to achieve, and time is always the consummate challenge.
