HELLHOUND Los Angeles-based Hellhound Vintage is a resource for expertly curated vintage clothing from the 1950s to the 1990s. Co-owners Kerri Barta and Jason Yolkiewicz are self-described "thrift junkies," inspired by punk rock, hip-hop, skateboarding, hippie, bohemian, and vagabond lifestyles, art, and music. From the earliest days of the eBay vintage scene, Hellhound Vintage has organically grown a cult following of vintage aficionados, costume and fashion designers, vintage dealers, and corporate buyers. Specializing in Woodstock- era clothing, 1970s denim, and premium vintage concert tees from the 1970s to the 1990s, Hellhound offers personal shopping services, online retail, rentals, and paid access to their inspirational archives. Currently, Hellhound is only available online. @hellhoundvintage Hellhoundvintage.com CATWALK DESIGNER VINTAGE In a market stall on London's Portobello Road, Renee Johnston traded her origi- nal Levi's 501s with Ossie Clark for his chiffon blouses. She became one of Los Angeles' original stylists, a revolution- ary costume designer known for the cult classic film, This Is Spinal Tap, and a former member of our own CDG to boot! Meanwhile, Cleveland, Ohio- native Michelle Webb studied film at NYU and became a music video producer at Atlantic Records. After partnering on numerous music video projects, Johnston and Webb joined forces and opened a designer vintage store in the back of legendary Bleecker Bob's Records on Melrose Avenue. In 2000, they moved to Fairfax Avenue, before Supreme and other streetwear stores opened on the block. For years, celebrities and celebrity stylists have come to Catwalk for vintage name brands and spe- cialty jewelry, from the 1960s through today. Due to COVID, they are doing fashion shows on Instagram, and looking to rev up their online and private clientele, although the brick and mortar remains open by appointment. They offer studio pulls with a restock fee. @catwalkfairfax catwalkdesignervintage.com DECADES Decades opened in Los Angeles in 1997. Founder Cameron Silver, the bestselling author of Decades: A Century of Fashion, helped move vintage into the mainstream. He has always believed in vintage that looks modern, so whether it's an Edwardian dress or shoulder-padded Claude Montana jacket, he makes sure it seems relevant today. A wonderful resource for quality designer clothing from the second half of the 20th century, Decades also has a very strong selection of 21st-century pieces, including current season clothing and accessories at below retail prices. There is so much interest in clothing from the 2000s that Silver is continuing to grow this department with designer consignment. Silver has tremendous respect for and love of costume designers, and has worked with the industry for years. Consequently, Decades has a very accommodat- ing studio service policy, with a fair restock fee. @decadesinc decadesinc.com
