CG Animal Husbandry As CG technology continues to advance, we are now growing accustomed to more and more computer-generated animals of all shapes and sizes assuming lead roles alongside human actors in a variety of films. Over the years, we have seen modeling and animation technologies advance in this direction, eventually leading us to the amazing stars in 2016's The Jungle Book, where the digital animals acted alongside a solitary human actor, and last year's The Lion King, where the CG cast of creatures carried the entire film. Here, we examine two recent movies, Dolittle and Call of the Wild, which incorporate the latest technology – from rigging to hair/fur simulation – to bring these animal actors to life, no doubt leaving many audience members wondering, are they real?
