Directed and animated by NY-based Mike “the Monkey” Senften (monkey@4dthieves.com), the spot incorporates different rendering styles, complex rigid body dynamics and clean sound-driven time remapping. Dorian Orange was the production studio. David Driscoll handled 3D modeling, and James Gundersen performed compositing. at a glance... Toronto’s GURU STUDIO (www.gurustudio.com) has partnered with Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning to nurture emerging animation talent. As a sponsor of the college’s Animation Industry Day, Guru Studio presented the “Best Character Animation Award” and $1,000 to graduate Kevin Parry for his short, The Arctic Circle.The stop-motion production tells the story of greed in the wild, untamed north. Atlanta’s DOPPLER STUDIOS (www.dopplerstudios.com) has been hosting ADR sessions for Pixar’s Toy Story 3. Jodi Benson, the original voice of The Little Mermaid’s Ariel, plays Barbie in the film. Dopper’s Jonathan Jory engineered the sessions.Actor Owen Wilson has also been in to record ADR for Marmaduke, an upcoming feature about a large and mischievous Great Dane. And comedian Margaret Cho recorded ADR for her part in the TV series Ghost Whisperer.
