AS SOCI AT ION G OV ER NA NCE 2013 Compliance Review Committee Report and Recommendation REPORT Based upon the January 15, 2013 membership figures, the AEA has 15,740 active members. The average number of members per regional director is 984. The AEA has 13 regions and 16 regional directors. There are 24 members on the AEA Board of Directors, which includes 3 state officers, 2 NEA State Directors, 1 AEA-Retired Director, and 2 Education Support Professional At-large Directors. The NEA requires that all voting members of the AEA Board of Directors comply with the principle of one personone vote. The AEA Board of Directors uses a weighted vote which complies with the principle of one person-one vote. Each Regional Director has a vote equal to the percentage of deviation from the average of 984 members for that region. Directors elected at-large have a weighted vote of 100. RECOMMENDATION The Compliance Review Committee recommends no change to AEA governance regions or local association assignments within the AEA Board of Directors governance regions.
