Grace Walker had his own set of unique challenges to face when he joined the show for episode 104 "Cult Patrol" which takes place within a snow globe! He spent hours meticulously designing the mini village and Cathedral of Nurnheim. From 3D printing the miniature prop to the full-scale set build, Grace transformed this well-established and detailed environment from the comics into live action. — Grace Walker: "I was extremely impressed with the writing from my first read and I knew it would be a terrific show to design. For me though, I knew I had to keep Michael's expertise ongoing. My first episode, among other sets, was a scene that would take place in a snow globe. Initially, the visual effects team had wanted to do the town street entirely in the globe, but it was decided that I would design sets to a height of fourteen feet and that they would do extensions above that. As the stage space at this time was minimal, the production decided to go exterior, so the challenge was where to build. We also had to bear in mind that the street set had to be near the interior locations for the inside of the Nurnheim Cathedral. As with all exterior builds, there was the challenge of weather, which wasn't all that kind! One way and another though, it was all put together for both episode three and then held over for episode four, where the town was enhanced with a bell tower built on stage." Another particularly difficult build for construction in episode nine. "Jane Patrol" was a subway car that travelled through Jane's sixty-four different G. THE MAIN STREET FOR THE NURNHEIM CATHEDRAL WAS AN EXTERIOR SET, MADE TO LOOK LIKE PLASTIC, AS THOUGH INSIDE A SNOW GLOBE. VFX WOULD DO EXTENSIONS TO THIS SET IN POST-PRODUCTION. H. THE SNOW GLOBE USED AS A PROP. ALLEN COULTER'S VECTORWORKS PLANS WERE 3D PRINTED FOR THE MINIATURE CATHEDRAL. D E F G H
