6 wholelifetimes.com Greetings Dearest Readers! How's your Summer? Although we can still bask at the beach and enjoy outdoor shows, we are heading toward the Autumnal Equinox — the time of perfect balance of light and dark. Subtle changes fill the air and that balance sits so precariously, especially in a buzzing city like ours. What do you do to maintain "balance"? I'd love to know! Write to me at gina@wholelife magazine.com. It's been wonderful to meet so many of our dedicated readers and friends at recent conferences and festivals. We are proud to be the longest-running print publication in the field of health and holistic living. And, we deeply thank YOU, our dear readers, for your commitment to consciousness and transformation as we evolve on this path together. We are especially grateful for our advertisers. We couldn't do it without their immense support, and we encourage you to pls visit their shops and offices, conferences and events, and pls let them know you saw them in Whole Life Times! Many thanks also to the multi-talented artist and musician David Young. David generously shared his gifts of art with us on the front cover and our inside feature story on Dreams. Pls visit www.davidyoungart.com. Autumn may be on the way, but there's still plenty of Summer left and so many events to explore. Pls consider going to the Cancer Control Society's 47th annual conference over Labor Day week- end. You will find a wealth of important, current, and cutting-edge health information. On Sept 7th, head to the Skirball for KPFK's 60th Anniversary Gala & Concert. KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles is solely listener-sponsored radio — it's powered by people like you and me. No corporate sponsorship gets in the way of truth-telling and this benefit will ensure that the programming continues. In late Sept, cruise out to the desert for the annual Bhakti Fest. It's always a fabulous line-up of musicians, yoga teachers, and meditators! For more fun events and great happenings around town, sign- up for our digital newsletter. It's FREE and easy. Just email me at gina@wholelifemagazine.com or text the word WHOLELIFE (all one word) to 42828. We'd love to send you our digital edition. Happy Autumnal Equinox! With Love & Gratitude, Although the temps are hot and the sun is high, it's also that time of year when kids are heading back to school after the long break. Oftentimes the first assignment is to write about something memorable or fun that happened during the warm Summer months. We asked a few of our very talented writers this same question. Pls see responses below. How did you spend your Summer? Did you go on vacation or do something fun? Spent my summer learning Instagram. At least that was my plan. Tagging on a picture can be hot. Especially if who you're tagging is greatly sought! Static posts should be eye-catching and clean. At least so far, that's what I've seen. Those who support you deserve a tag. Otherwise you may be considered a drag. For me the experience of Instagram, has mostly reminded me I am a big ham! Layne Dalfen (Pg. 18) contributors from the editor Greetings Dearest Readers! Layne Dalfen (Pg. 18) I finally took a real break this summer and went to a full-service retreat hotel getting several massages and doing a lot of meditation. At night, I would float in the pool staring at the full moon which was incredibly hypnotic. I felt so grateful the whole time, and returned home replenished, and ready to take on the world! Glynis McCants (Pg. 14) I found myself looking skyward often this summer, especially at night, particularly at the stars. Spawned by the Apollo 11 anniversary, I drifted into thoughts of Clarke, Heinlein, and Asimov. The vision, the imagination, the science, and the humility of heroes: Space. Much love to all those who explore it both inner and outer. Chet Livingston (Pg. 10) HELP HARRY BEAT CANCER! Harry DeLigter, dear friend of WLT, pioneer of New Age media, award-winning producer, photographer, and founder of Light- worksAV.com was championing environmental films and clean, green technologies when he was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. While the necessary GoFundMe account is being set up, pls text Bo at 818-742-5099 to get info about how to make a donation. Pls send your name, phone number, and email. We thank you! Teresa Bergen (Pg. 20) My summer goal was to get out on the water more with friends. So far, I'm succeeding (summer isn't over yet!). I went on an Eastern Canada cruise, took a Bigfoot-themed jet boat ride, went paddle boarding with one of my oldest friends, and have an upcoming full moon kayak trip planned.
