SPEED TASTING REPORT REVEAL #5 Double Decker 2011 Pinot Grigio, California ($9.99) T heir slogan is ���Hop on the Bus!��� and for a light, easy, enjoyable wine in the ten-dollar range, it is a worthy invitation. Grapes for this wine were sourced from California vineyards and cold-fermented in stainless steel. Karl Wente, the family���s Fifth Generation Winemaker, oversees the production and takes great care to make a food-friendly wine at an affordable price. The Double Decker Pinot Grigio offers white lower aromas and fresh cut melon with a touch of honey on the palate. Wente Family Estates Greg Moss, Regional Sales Manager for Wente Family Estates. ���Earthy with a touch of minerals and jasmine. The loral comes up front on the palate and the acidity is bright and crisp.��� ���Jeffery Stivers ���White, fresh stone fruit comes through with a zing of lemon zest.��� ���Chris Bradford REVEAL #6 Cecchi 2009 Chianti Classico Riserva ($24) B ased in Tuscany, winemakers Andrea and Cesare Cecchi are forward-thinking traditionalists whose winemaking heritage goes back to 1893. But while their ideals are irmly rooted in tradition, their winemaking methods are modern and sleek. The Cecchi brothers strive to make authentic Italian wines using local varieties to give the maximum expression of Italian grapes. Their Chianti Classico is 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino Toscano. The grapes are estate-grown in the Chianti Classico area and are sustainably farmed. French oak barrels are used judiciously to avoid heavy extraction of oak lavor and tannins and allow the bright fruit and irm acid backbone to shine through. Ban��� Vintners Family winemaker Andrea Cecchi paid a rare visit to present this wine to the panel. Our Panel���s Notes: ���This is a delightful expression of Sangiovese: from sour cherries to ultra dry tannins���and a lilt of licorice and espresso through to the inish.��� ���Meridith May ���This is not about the fruit but the body and full lavors matched with sturdy, dry tannins.
