www.postmagazine.com 4 POST DECEMBER 2018 EDITOR'S NOTE he New Year is upon us, and as we head into 2019, you'll see an increase in the amount of digital content that Post will deliver via our Website (postmagazine.com), special news- letters and our social media accounts. The post production industry doesn't sit still. New technologies, workflows and techniques are constantly being innovated and Post recognizes that. It's why we started this publication in the first place. Our goal in the year ahead is to deliver even more interesting and informative reporting to our readers on the device of their choosing. I welcome Linda Romanello's increased online contributions going forward. Post's online coverage is something that has long been of interest to me, and the reason I took on the role of director of web content nearly five years ago. Right out of the gate, you will see more updates to our Website, and an increase in special, themed content delivered to your inbox. We will still deliver our bi-weekly newsletter, but will supplement that industry coverage with special focuses on different market segments. You can get a taste of our increased online coverage this month with a number of Outlook contributions that don't appear in our print pages. 1stAveMachine directors Nico Casavecchia and Martin Allais, for example, look at the future of Virtual Reality and its potential as a storytelling medium, particularly in the area of loca- tion-based experiences. Dick Gordon, senior editor at Carousel, looks at the importance of talent, experience and multidisciplinary skills now that technology has become so democratized. Greg Taieb, VP of product development and innovation at Deluxe Entertainment, looks at the potential the global entertainment space offers while cautioning that content still needs to be adapted for regional audiences. And Peter Oberdorfer, president of Tactic, reflects on how Augmented Reality is evolving, and how social networks like Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook and Shazam are already integrat- ing AR support. Head on over to the postmagazine.com for exclusive coverage and be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. his month in Post, we feature our annual Outlook issue, where we bring you the many voices of industry professionals from all areas of the post community — editing, color grading, visual effects, sound design, directing and more — as well as from a variety of manu- facturers who are all talking about where we are as a community and where we're going in 2019. While we're looking outward, however, at where the industry is now and at what lies ahead (ex- amining such topics as AR/VR, workflow, color grading, visual effects, rendering and technology advancements), we also have some exciting changes of our own, right here at Post. We are thrilled to announce that starting in 2019, Post will be changing its print frequency to bi-monthly in direct response to industry demands for an even stronger online and digital presence. This is remarkable news as it allows us to continue to deliver the same great print publication we've already been offering for the past 33 years, while giving us the opportunity to allocate more of our resources to our digital media offerings. Moving forward, I'll be working even more closely with our director of web content Marc Loftus on developing more articles, features and video for the Web, special newsletters, social media, new programs and initiatives, as well as working even more closely with manufacturers on creating special, custom content. Post readers will continue to receive our outstanding coverage of the community, with the same high-quality stories and photos for which we have always been known, but will benefit from our expanded online and digital presence, where we will be bringing you more news, video interviews, exclusives and advanced content. This is a big moment in Post's history. We've been bringing you stories from the post commu- nity for more than 33 years in a monthly print publication. Now, as we grow even further into the digital landscape, we invite our readers to come along for the ride!
