Bits & Pieces Ntropic฀helps฀ABC฀ promote฀Sunday฀nights What Post Readers Are Up To: right L OS ANGELES — Nptropic (www.ntropic.com), with locations in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, has created a visually enticing promo for ABC's Fall Sunday Night Line-Up. A Taste of ABC Sunday was led by Ntropic's Nate Robinson and Andrew Sinagra, who collaborated with executive producer Joseph Uliano of One World Pro- ductions in Los Angeles and the entertainment mar- keting division of ABC. Robinson and Sinagra directed the piece, while the Ntropic team created all of the promo's visual effects. The Fall Sunday Night Line-Up promo features a series of vignettes, with an all-star cast showcasing the International News Fairlight฀gets฀deeper฀pockets฀ S YDNEY, AUSTRALIA — Fairlight (www.fairlight.com.au), which has long offered digital audio tools for post, has been reinvigorated recently with fresh capital through a takeover by KFT Investments Pty. Ltd. The deal will provide new investments for R&D, production and customer support, and will allow Fairlight to develop new technologies and services for its audio post clients. Fairlight will also target new market opportunities with the launch of competitive new tactile control surfaces for the powerful CC-1 audio processing engine, including the new Xstream com- pact desktop controller (See Products on page 42) and the Quantum (shown) fully-featured, mid- size console. Recently appointed CEO Jean Claude Kathriner joined the company from Bosch, where he held a series of senior international sales and marketing positions. He will be driving the business and the many changes ahead. The team that Kathriner heads includes highly experienced engineering leaders, such as CTO Tino Fibaek. All scenes were shot over a rigorous three-day schedule on-set in LA. Elements were also shot in Vancouver and in the Hamptons. The creative process included a blending of live-action, motion-control, CGI animation and Autodesk Flame effects. Shooting the background plates on different days from the talent meant that Ntropic needed to marry all of the elements and make them appear seamless. The Ntropic team operated around the clock for three weeks, creating the visual effects for the vignettes and interweaving a glimpse of the network's three prominent shows: Once Upon A Time, Revenge and 666 Park Avenue. now BOOKS: "Currently: 'Just Kids' by Patti Smith.
