62 • THE ARTISAN WINTER 2018 Still the Same LAST LOOKS The family of make-up artist Dick Narr contributed memorabilia to Local 706. This red invitation was a souvenir from the 4th annual dinner dance of the Motion Picture Make-up Artists Association, held at the Roosevelt Hotel in 1931. The banquet committee consisted of Mel Berns, Bert Hadley and George Westmore (founding members of IATSE Local 706). Note the outgoing "Tired and Exhausted" officers from 1930-1931, and "The New, Optimistic" officers from 1931-1932. Our Guild was chartered in 1937, but it shows that things truly have not changed. (Working six days a week back then was not uncommon.)
