www.postmagazine.com 11 POST JANUARY 2018 BITS & PIECES LONDON — Creative agency Oursayso has launched a new stock footage Website that offers 4K res- olution material in :30 clips for £20 ($27) a month. Stock30.com was established by Oursayso's owner/ founder Peter Knott and long-time associate Paul Maunder. The pair claim that in what is generally an over-priced, anti-competitive mar- ket, Stock30's continually-expanding library of :30 4K clips will offer great value and choice. "Many would argue there's never been a truly great place to go to for affordable, high quality stock foot- age that feels natural, compelling and easy to use," says Knott. "And as every producer and editor will know, when a shot looks like 'stock' it can ruin the authentic nature, style and integrity of an edit." "Over the years, we've shot and edited all sorts of stuff, only to find that when you need a clip of some- thing basic, like a lock-off shot of London's Oxford Street, you can struggle to find anything that per- fectly gels with what you are doing," adds Maunder. "All too often, stock footage is over-staged and what we editors ideally need are clips that are more down-to-earth, practical and authentic in their look and feel." Stock30 launches with an editor's needs in mind. The library is mem- bership-based, and for a monthly fee of £20, users can enjoy an almost unlimited amount of down- loads. They can also request the filming of specific footage for future inclusion in the library. All footage is shot and owned by Stock30, and contributors are paid as free- lance camera operators. Those in- terested in contributing can register online at: https://stock30.com/auth/ register/contributor. STOCK30 OFFERING AFFORDABLE 4K FOOTAGE SAO PAULO, BRAZIL — Stratostorm (www.stratostorm.com), a two-year- old visual effects studio based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, which produces VFX, 3D, animation and compos- iting for films, commercials and television, recently collaborated with agency J. Walter Thompson (JWT) Brazil, to create the first ever Johnson & Johnson 360-degree/ VR, fully 3D animated project for Listerine. In addition, Stratostorm also launched its own VR depart- ment with this project. The spot, Anticaries Squad, aims to educate the public about the impor- tance of oral health in the family. For the project, the Stratostorm team was involved from concept, R&D, direction and full production of the animation to create a fun world with original characters to represent a military field inside the mouth. Here, the teeth go through training until they are strong enough for the final battle with the germs and caries. "For this campaign, we created several original and fun characters, representing teeth, germs and car- ies," explains Helena Hilario, found- ing partner of Stratostorm (along- side Italian creative director Mario Pece). "The challenge [for] our team of artists was to create a 360-de- gree, playful world with VR tech- nology, in the first person. Playful and immersive, the story revolves around a training camp that takes place inside the mouth. After the use of the new Listerine, the public is transported to this universe and there, the teeth are prepared until they are strong enough for a final battle against the germs." "From the point of view of storytelling, the biggest challenge was to create actions to direct the attention of the viewer and, at the same time, to have other anima- tions happening at other points in the scenario," adds Pece. "It was an extremely collaborative creative process from our team of 3D artists and animators, where we found solutions to make the idea feasible to bring this project to life with virtual reality technology." The animation will be broadcast first in Brazil and then expanded throughout Latin America. "It's education. It's entertainment. It's a digital journey that has a real-world impact, turning the oral hygiene of families into a fun routine," adds Rodrigo Da Matta, creative director at JWT Brazil. "Listerine has the mis- sion of always innovating. And for a squad of such animated teeth, mis- sion-giving is mission accomplished." The project was rendered entirely in Corona Render. The original score was written and created to bring the magic and emo- tion for the actions of the animation by the audio company Squad. With more than 100 projects in Brazil and the United States in less than three years, São Paulo's cre- ative production studio Stratostorm inaugurated an office in Los Angeles in 2017. The structures in Brazil and the US are equipped with worksta- tions, color suites, screening rooms and green-screen studios. The locations act as a hub for Brazilian clients to work with international creators and as a platform for pro- ducers who want to film in California.
