But there was a small problem. It seems there were six other Mary Moores. But, then it hit me: Tyler was my middle name, too. I was Mary Tyler Moore. I spoke it out loud. 'Mary Tyler Moore.' It sounded right. So I wrote it out on the form. And it looked right. It was right. [The union] was happy. My father was happy. And tonight, after having the privilege of working in this business among the most creative and talented people imaginable, I too, am happy, after all. Thank you." 48 th LIFE ACHIEVEMENT RECIPIENT, 2011 IN MEMORIAM Mary Tyler Moore passed away on Jan. 25, 2017, at the age of 80. Working opposite Edward Asner, who would go on to serve as SAG president, Moore helped redefine how working women were viewed in America. Along with then-husband Grant Tinker, she formed MTM Enterprises, which was responsible for producing numerous classic TV series, including Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, WKRP in Cincinnati, The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart.
