Our ob as actors is to entertain and we need to be able to do our work in the safest possible environment — and this is particularly important to me because was inured on a set myself. Q: How does the union plan to address the growing number of so-called "right- to-work" states? A: This has been an ongoing process. We are engaged at both the local and federal levels. Through lobbying and mobilizing our members, we are hard at work in Washington, D.C., and at statehouses nationwide. We will continue ghting legislatively, but we will also empower the locals in the "right-to-freeload" states to help pre-members understand the value of the union, even if they are not obligated to oin. Q: How is the direct deposit of residuals progressing? A: It's been amazing. I don't have a launch date to announce yet, but the people who volunteered for the beta testing say that it has been incredible. This is something that is not only going to change things for our members, but I believe it's going to have a maor impact on our industry. t's going to be something other organizations will emulate. IGLA Q: How is SAG-AFTRA addressing non-union commercials work? A: We are hyper focused on the Commercials Organizing and Recapture Initiative. One approach is to facilitate the way employers work with us. e are achieving that by being exible and harnessing the power of technology. At the same time, we are reaching out to both members and pre-members to educate them on the importance to their careers of growing union work opportunities and keeping our contracts viable for the future.
