The new 3D Immersive Extension builds on the company's Halo 9.1 Extension, adding further options beyond the existing Dolby Atmos bed track capability. The 3D Immersive Extension now provides Ambisonic compatible output as an alter- native to channel-based output for VR, game and other immersive applications. This makes it possi- ble to upmix, re-purpose or convert channel-based audio for an Ambisonic workflow. According to the company, the Immersive Extension makes Halo the first upmixer to fully support Avid's newly announced Pro Tools version 12.8, now with native 7.1.2 stems for Dolby Atmos mixing. The combination of Pro Tools 12.8 and Halo 3D Immersive Extension will provide a more fluid workflow for audio post professionals handling multi-channel and object-based audio formats. The 3D Immersive Extension replaces the Halo 9.1 Extension and can now be purchased for $199. Owners of the existing Halo 9.1 Extension can up- grade to the Halo 3D Immersive Extension for no additional cost. NUGEN AUDIO DELIVERS HALO 3D EXTENSION FOR HALO UPMIX DUSSELDORF, GERMANY — Elements (www. elements.tv) releases an expanded version of its popular Elements NAS storage solution at IBC 2017. NAS will now be available in a 60bay expandable version with 25/100GbE support, marking a departure from its reputation as an en- try-level only unit and positioning it as a cost-ef- fective alternative and fierce competitor of solutions that rely on the considerable expense of fibre channel connectivity. Elements NAS, previously offered in only a 24bay configuration, provides the features and benefits of big brother Elements One — including the full package of workflow enhancement tools and the optional Media Library — in an easily in- tegrated storage solution ideal for smaller work- groups without the need for block-level access. No IT skills are required, making set-up quick and easy with a rapid path to collaboration. IBC attendees will be the first to see the new Elements NAS 60bay version, expandable via JBODs, with all new improvements, such as real snapshots, VSS and ACL support, higher stream count performance, significantly higher small-file/ random IO performance and the same RAID con- troller layout as Elements One. ELEMENTS OFFERS EXPANDED VERSION OF ELEMENTS NAS SAN JOSE, CA — Quantum (www.quantum.com) is showcasing its StorNext 6, a significant new release of the company's workflow storage platform, at IBC 2017. Updates include a new quality of service (QoS) feature that em- powers facilities to tune and optimize performance across all client worksta- tions, and on a machine-by-machine basis, in turn guaranteeing that more demanding tasks, such as 4K playback or color correction, get the band- width they need to maintain uncompromising video quality. A new FlexSpace feature allows multiple instances of StorNext, located anywhere in the world, to share a common content repository. So, any user within a StorNext environment can access, browse and pull files from a shared workspace. FlexSync is also a powerful new capability that provides a fast, flex- ible and simple way to synchronize content between multiple StorNext systems in a highly manageable and automated fashion, supporting one- to-one, one-to-many and many-to- one file-replication scenarios. The company will also highlight its Xcellis solutions, recently enhanced with lab-validated 4K reference archi- tectures for facilities of all sizes and including all-flash storage configura- tions that maximize performance for high-quality 4K streams.
