torrancememorial.org PULSE | 47 DOCTORS AND DONORS CELEBRATE NEW MOTHER/BABY UNIT Torrance Memorial Medical Center Physicians and donors gathered to celebrate the opening of Torrance Memorial's newly renovated Mother/Baby Postpartum Unit. Torrance Memorial's Young Physicians and Professionals Alliance (YPPA) presented a $15,000 donation. Food and beverage for the event were sponsored by PDM LLP. The new, all-private patient rooms are 33% larger, providing "room in" with their new babies to facilitate bonding. RAISING A GLASS FOR PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS Shade Hotel, Redondo Beach Torrance Memorial Medical Center started "Movember" off with its Pints for Prostates beer tasting night at the new Shade Hotel, Redondo Beach. Attendees sampled brews from local breweries King Harbor Brewing Co., Strand Brewing Co. and Hop Saint Brewing Co. while experts from Torrance Memorial, as well as prostate cancer survivors, spoke about their perspectives and the importance of early detection. Proceeds from the event supported the Movember Foundation. The event kicked off the foundation's 2016 Movember movement where individuals grow a mustache or get physically active to raise funds. The donation is the highest check amount given at one time, and will go toward the transformation of the North Patient Tower. The more than 900-member Auxiliary collected the money through various fundraisers and proceeds from the Torrance Memorial Gi Shop.
