11 Clockwise from Right: 7) Special Olympics Delaware and the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) piloted Unified Flag Football. The playoffs were showcased at the DIAA State Championship held at the University of Delaware stadium. 8) To improve athlete communication statewide, SODE launched a mass notification tool called "Blackboard Connect" - using mass phone/ voice, email and texts for all 5 area programs. 9) In February 2016, Special Olympics Delaware launched UD Plunge - a campus-wide initiative to engage students and faculty at the university to "take the Plunge" in a swimming pool. 10) The Lewes Polar Bear Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Delaware celebrated 25 years in 2016, with a new goal of having one Polar Bear for every athlete we serve. More than 3500 bears took the Plunge and raised over $800,000 for the organization. 11) SODE honored Delaware Law Enforcement for Special Olympics as they celebrated their 30th Anniversary in 2016.
