The playoffs were showcased at the DIAA State Championship held at the University of Delaware stadium. 8) To improve athlete communication statewide, SODE launched a mass notification tool called "Blackboard Connect" - using mass phone/ voice, email and texts for all 5 area programs. 9) In February 2016, Special Olympics Delaware launched UD Plunge - a campus-wide initiative to engage students and faculty at the university to "take the Plunge" in a swimming pool. 10) The Lewes Polar Bear Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Delaware celebrated 25 years in 2016, with a new goal of having one Polar Bear for every athlete we serve. More than 3500 bears took the Plunge and raised over $800,000 for the organization. 11) SODE honored Delaware Law Enforcement for Special Olympics as they celebrated their 30th Anniversary in 2016.
