The model was done in Maya ® and 3ds Max by visual effects supervisor Eric Hayden and the artists at FUSEfx. Above, top: A concept sketch by Mr. McMullen, drawn on the iPad Pro using Procreate, to give director Paul McGuigan, the executive producers and the visual effects team a snapshot of the intended geography and a master shot post explosion. This is the first indication of how the integration of a practical foreground set with virtual set extension elements might look; the intent was to indicate how far to take the destruction of the Capitol dome in the background. Above: A 3D study of a scene inside the US Capitol bomb site set, illustrating lighting and background options, by Mr. Hayden and the FUSEfx team, done in Maya, 3ds Max, Afterburn and Fumefx.
