Originally, George and his mentor — a Virginia Supreme Court justice — had mapped out a career path in law. However, a college friend coaxed George into taking an acting class where he discovered his true calling on the stage. He joined the SAG Awards Committee in 2015. Schultz joined the SAG Awards Committee in 2012. He has been a successful actor for over 20 years, including more than a decade of experience in performance capture, beginning with the pioneering film The Polar Express for director Robert Zemeckis, with whom he would work twice more, in Monster House and the fantasy epic Beowulf, in which he played 11 different characters. He played both live action and performance capture characters in director James Cameron's Avatar. A current SAG-AFTRA National Board member, he also serves on SAG-AFTRA's National Executive Committee and numerous other committees. Connell served on the SAG National Board before stepping down in 1996 to become the first full-time producer of the SAG Awards. In 2007, she was appointed executive producer, national programming for Screen Actors Guild and began overseeing the SAG Special Projects department and the SAG Conservatory, as well as many SAG initiatives.
