47 SAG -AF TR A | Special Issue 2017 | SAGAFTRA.org T he most iconic symbol of the SAG Awards is The Actor, a thespian in a dramatic pose deciding between the masks of comedy and tragedy. And for a statue with no clothes, it really gets around. You have seen it being presented to some of the world's best-known actors, the ultimate expression of respect from SAG-AFTRA members to one of their own. But did you know for the last two years it has also been making its way around town prior to the show? Not the hand-held Actor you've seen at the ceremony, but its 10-foot-high cousin. Actually there are five of them, and this year two more are being made at California Art Products, bringing the total to seven. Previously, these appearances were kept secret.
