Clockwise from above: Dorothy Vaughan's home was shot in a mid-century house in the Collier Heights section of Atlanta. This ranch-style home was completely restored for the movie. The three images shown here are the living room, dining room and the television/rec room. The remaining three images are Mary Jackson's house, a small country home connected to the land located near Monroe, GA. The images here show her bedroom with its fireplace, and the living room. Wynn Thomas, Production Designer Jeremy Woolsey, Art Director Danny Brown, Assistant Art Director Jason Sweers, Graphic Designer Carla Martinez, Nathan Krochmal, Set Designers Chris Brandt, Storyboard Artist Missy Parker, Set Decorator changed since the building was constructed. Location manager Wes Hagen spent months negotiating a deal to get us into this building. It was a testament to his skill that they said yes. Finally, there is a sequence at the beginning of the movie that sets up the story. It takes place in 1928 with young Katherine at school discovering the joys of math. These sets were built in abandoned schoolrooms in Monroe, Georgia. When I tell the story of Katherine Johnson, most people are surprised that they have never heard of her before. I hope that once the movie is released, everyone will celebrate the amazing accomplishments of all of the extraordinary women who worked at NASA during this historic time. ADG
