It was not much to look at. The campus was about function, not design. One of the challenges in designing the movie was how to make this look interesting. There is also an upstairs/downstairs aspect to the story; one of the challenges was how to show that upstairs (the scientists) and downstairs (the workers—human computers) aspect in visual terms.
