16 P E R S P E C T I V E | M A R C H / A P R I L 2 0 1 6 news THE 20th ANNUAL EXCELLENCE IN PRODUCTION DESIGN AWARDS by Tom Wilkins, Awards Committee Chair Production Designer and Art Director Joe Celli, who has designed the set for this year's Art Directors Guild Awards, has a long history with live-performance television and major awards shows. He has won the ADG Award seven times—every time he has been nominated—for his work on Oscar ® telecasts with Production Designers Roy Christopher, David Rockwell, Steve Bass, John Myhre and Derek McLane. He has also won three Emmys ® , out of eight nominations, for various Oscar ceremonies. Mr. Celli's design features gloss laminate with gold-and-silver leaf applied to square steel tube rings and sweeps, along with CNC-cut ADG logos applied to accordianed back walls.
