Bits & Pieces at a glance Digital studio RADIUM/REEL FX, with locations in Santa Monica and Dallas has re-branded under one name, REEL FX (www.reelfx.com). The re-brand includes a logo and Website makeover and is the result of a relationship that started in '07 when Reel FX acquired Radium. Reel FX will continue to operate in its Santa Monica and Dallas spaces and continue to produce and develop animation, VFX and design work. Rahel Makonnen is now heading up THE MILL's (www.themill.com) 3D department as executive producer. She was a senior producer at The Mill for the last three years and oversaw many complex projects, including the VES nominated Audi Hummingbird commercial. Makonnen is also EP of The Mill's established stadium and asset library, which holds some of the world's most iconic stadiums, Sun Valley, CA-based systems integrator and workflow solutions pro- vider ALT SYSTEMS (www.altsystems.com) has promoted Bruno Munger to VP/CTO. He will continue to manage the company's expan- sion of services, particularly in the area of on-set dailies solutions, which he has fostered since joining the company in February 2011 as director of sales. Munger's career spans nearly 20 years having been involved in product management for Image Systems (formerly Digital Vision), Autodesk, MTI and Snell & Wilcox. VFX artist Glenn Cone has joined the team at RUSHES (www.rushes. co.uk) in London. His career includes creating visual effects for a range of commercials. Most recently, Cone worked on a CSI Channel 5 promo, Sony's worldwide PlayStation launch and Nissan's Maxima spot. The common stock for LA's EMPIRE POST MEDIA (www.empire- postmedia.com) has been upgraded to the OTCQB tier of the over- the-counter market. OTCQB was created in 2010 to help investors identify small and emerging companies that are current in their regula- tory reporting obligations and to facilitate electronic trading through a broad spectrum of broker/dealers. Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, has donated $500,000 for the endowment of The Matt Groening Chair in Animation to the UCLA SCHOOL OF THEATER, FILM AND TELEVISION (www. tft.ucla.edu). The Simpsons' 23-year reign makes it the longest running TV comedy of all time. Groening's creative talents have resulted in his receiving 12 Emmys, 13 Emmy noms, the 2002 National Cartoonist Society Reuben Award and a 2004 British Comedy Award. AMD has began shipping the FirePro V3900, an entry-level graphics card, suited for games, or environment designers The card features a 1GB frame buffer and can power up to five HD displays using AMD Eyefinity multi-monitor technol- ogy and DisplayPort 1.2 multi-stream- ing technology.
