INDUSTRY SPOTLIGHT In Memoriam N apa Valley wine pioneer Vera Trinchero Torres passed away in late July. She was 76. Holiday Ornaments L aunching in mid-October, Campari's limited-edition art labels for 2014 will feature modern interpretations of works originally created for Campari by Italian Futurist artist Fortunato Depero in the 1920s. The three limited-edition collectible labels will grace 750-ml. bottles at retail stores across the U.S. just in time for the holidays. "This limited-edition collection celebrates Campari's great link to the history of art by paying homage to the influential Italian Futurist movement in a fresh and original way," explains Dave Karraker, Marketing Director, Campari America. "This holiday season, Campari wants to gift our consumers with special pieces from our art collection that represent the heritage of the brand with a contemporary twist." 12  /  the tasting panel  / september 2014 A Howling Good Beer J ust when you thought you were safe, Newcastle resurrected its popular Newcastle Werewolf Blood-Red Ale last month; it will be available through October. Brewed with rye malts and smooth at first taste, it transforms into a bitter bite at the finish from Fuggle and Golding hops. "We're pretty sure most of the stories about werewolves are totally made up, but I promise you this: The return of Newcastle Werewolf is very real," says Quinn Kilbury, Brand Director for Newcastle Brown Ale. "And just in case werewolves are real, I want to let you know that Newcastle Werewolf has certain magical qualities that not only make it taste awesome but also help you ward off werewolves. Just in case you're worried about that sort of thing."
