September 2014 isea.org • ISEA Communiqué 6 VOTING Election results matter the iowa State education Association recommends candidates in state legislative races. the iSeA political Action committee uses an extensive member-led interview and recommendation process to identify candidates who support educators and public education. we share that information to help our members and the public make informed decisions when they fill out their ballots. Your support of the iSeA recommended candidates helps ensure we have allies in the Statehouse to fight for positive education policies such as small class sizes, increased teacher pay and additional opportunities for professional development. our recommended candidates also play defense. the incumbents listed here killed bills that would have sliced $200 million from the state's education budget for a home school voucher program, eliminated free access to iowa's voluntary preschool programs and denied our ability to bargain on issues of insurance, retirement and reductions in force. do not wait until nov. 4 to cast your vote. cut out the absentee ballot request form and mail it to or drop it off at your county auditor's office.
