WELCOME DEBORAH SKELLY joined the Guild in April as executive director of Industry Relations. She brings with her a wealth of experience as a producer, negotiator, feature film agent and legal expert. She comes to SAG from Fusion Film Group, where she served as vice president of business and legal affairs. Skelly has more than 20 years of experience in the industry and holds a J.D. degree from Pepperdine. SAG PLUGS IN AT TRADE SHOWS, FILM FESTS and film festivals. At the Consumer Electronics Show in January in Las Vegas, I SAG Secretary-Treasurer Amy Aquino and actor Kevin Pollak joined executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof (Lost) and writer-producer Justin Halpern ($h*! My Dad Says) on the Artists as Entrepreneurs panel. Panelists discussed how artists can build their own brands and find common ground between labor and management. SAG New Media National Director Mark Friedlander spearheaded the SAG New Media presence at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, which took place Jan 20-30 in Park City, Utah. He moderated the official Sundance New Frontiers panel, and served as a panelist for the Utah Branch’s festival panel and GLAAD’s Films and Filmmakers Moving Online Panel. An official sponsor for 14 years, SAGIndie hosted the annual Actors Only Brunch and the annual Filmmakers Luncheon. At the 2011 South by Southwest media conference and film festival, which took place March 11-19 in Austin, Texas, SAG New Media teamed up with the makers of Gowalla, a location- based social networking app to create the SAG SXSW Trip. It encouraged attendees to explore SAG-sponsored or related events by having them “check in” at the various locations in order to qualify for a prize. SAG New Media sponsored several events, including the Tweet House and Tubefilter.tv, which held a conference that brought together some of the biggest names in new media for an evening of networking and discussion. SAG Organizing, iActor and SAGIndie also attended the conference. SAGIndie and Screen Actors Guild joined forces with Tribeca Film Festival to throw the 3rd Annual Cast Bowling Party on April 25. The event offered friendly competition for filmmakers and cast and crew from the films showing at Tribeca. t has been a busy season for SAG New Media and SAGIndie, which have brought a SAG presence to a flurry of trade shows MIKE STORY joined SAG in November as director of IT infrastructure, information and telecommunications technology. Story has more than 20 years of experience. Before joining the Guild, he was director, IT networking and security and privacy officer at Securitas Security Services. PROMOTION MARTHA HOLDRIDGE was promoted to national director, Human Resources on January 1. Holdridge began her tenure at the Guild in 2002 as senior manager, Human Resources, and was promoted to director in 2005. MAURA WALKER has been promoted to the newly created position of director, New York special projects and events. Maura, who has been with the Guild for more than 24 years, has also taken on an expanded role with the SAG Motion Picture Players Welfare Fund, the Career Transition for Dancers program and the Council of Motion Picture and Television Unions. STAFF MILESTONES Congratulations to our SAG employees who reached a milestone in the fourth quarter of 2010 and the first quarter of 2011: Elizabeth Moseley celebrated 30 years on staff. Jim Damis and Grace Walker marked 25 years. Lien Lam celebrated 20 years. Nicole Abdullah, Stephen Allen, Jeff Bennett, Duncan Crabtree- Ireland, Nancy Fox, Zino Macaluso, Frank Mares and Ruth Paul all reached the 10-year mark. And Araceli Cedillo, Troy Clark, Marena Downs, Tim Klassen, Marisa Leal, Jeremy Marasigan, Adam Moore, Algernon Payne, Tisha Plummer, Shannon Renfroe, Leslie Slomka, David White and Angelica Ybanez marked five years of service.
